Coronavirus known as COVID-19 pandemic has abruptly disrupted our society in ways unimaginable creating a global economic and healthcare crisis. It has presented unprecedented challenges to our lives and businesses, whether your are taking care of children home from school, your aging parents, the compromised immune systems of family, the most fragile among us, or your own condition, we are in uncharted waters, and we are all doing the best we can with what we have, to take care of ourselves and others, some of us have had to close our businesses or furloughed from work. We recognize the anxiety and stress this creates. We are feeling all of the same anxieties that you are. We are truly with you in this moment. During these these challenging times, we must come together and support each other to ensure that our essential needs are being met. Since the beginning of the outbreak Prevention Alternatives has been monitoring the situation carefully. We are in constant communication with our local officials and City agency partners. While no one can say how long this pandemic and protests will continue, it is our commitment to you to do everything we can to respond to the needs of communities as quickly as possible. We are on the frontline assisting underserved communities and seniors with emergency relief providing food and personal protective equipment (ppe) during this crisis to ensure the health and safety of all, who are in need.
In light of recent events taking place worldwide, around our City, and across the globe, We would like to convey the following message on behalf of the Prevention Alternatives. First and foremost, we are deeply disturbed by the cascade of events globally, starting with the grievous death of George Floyd, which have rightfully caused protests in cities across the country against entrenched racism in all its forms, and the inequitable burden placed on marginalized communities of color during this pandemic. It has "awaken" us all. We acknowledge and have experienced the pain, grief and anger felt by the Black community and the injustices that they've faced. Prevention Alternatives Corporation firmly supports the quest to condemn and eliminate racism and disparities in all forms. We know that black lives matter now, and always. #BLACKLIVESMATTER #WEAREONE
I would like to thank my staff, healthcare workers, our many partners, and volunteers who have reached out to express concern and offer support, and/or who have been working with us around the clock as these crises have unfolded. We have been active every day, on the front lines delivering food, gloves, medication, sanitizer, and offering telemedicine to individuals that are socially isolated and unable to help themselves.
As the city and nation begins resuming business operations in June; Phase One reopening for NYC takes place on Monday, June 8th, our staff has been working relentlessly to provide information and resources to communities for response and recovery.
"We feel deep regret and remorse for the recent events we have witnessed, the damages and disruptions that are bringing a much-needed societal change. The upcoming weeks and months ahead will bring forth a universal shift, causing humanity to unite and love again, rebirthing our society and restoring humanity, so that all human begins are treated equally. Let's figure out constructive ways to heal and build together an equitable society for all, and be part of the 21st Century evolution."
The greatest lesson we can learned from this is the importance of us coming together as one.
